That time again!
My cheapo NIC is non-PnP - had to specify manually. 5. NIC type not in list. Mine is a cheap 10mbs D-Link DE-220 and the only ones close to that were DE-600 X-Windows still failed to start. 25. Tried many other combinations of monitor type, resolutions, frequencies, etc.... all failed to make X-Windows happy.

I get an error during Windows NT server bootup: Intel 82557 based PRO ADAPTER failed to start Ethernet address 00902773BAD2 I believe that 82557 is the Intel NIC. Does this suggest a possible driver problem? How would I be able to ping 127.0.0.1 if the NIC adapter or its driver were bad or did not start?

I'm convinced the problem is with the internal nic driver, but I can't find any supported nic driver versions on the Intel website. Intel seems to have not only dropped support for the now-discontinued motherboard, but either removed the drivers completely or failed to maintain the download site.

Everytime I add the Internal NIC and give it a Private Address, I get all sorts of error messages. Listed below is a list of errors from the event log. HELP!! NT does not recognize my NIC
Our NT 4.0 Server has one nic no RRAS (just plain RAS with PPTP protocol) and all we had to do was forward port 1723 on router to VPN server. I have updated the NIC drivers on the workstation and on the server. Also updated the HPLJ4350n to the most recent drivers.
